Year 1 science
21 Nov 2025
In science, Year One have been learning about the migration of birds in wintertime to warmer countries to escape our very cold weather. We have learned about native British birds that we can spot in our gardens, such as the Robin and Sparrow and thought about what we can do to help them through our harsh winters. Every child made a hanging bird feeder from a fir cone, lard and seeds, which some of us took home to feed the birds in our gardens and some were hung in our forest school area. In our Continuous provision activities, we have made garden bird masks and enjoyed drawing big maps to show what migrating birds would see on their long journeys.
