Our Curriculum

When planning the Kingstone and Thruxton curriculum, we consider the experiences and needs of our children and their families. We want learning to be purposeful and engaging so that our pupils are ready for the next step along their educational and life journeys. Our broad and balanced curriculum which is child initiated and introduces a range of skills, knowledge and attitudes. We believe in active learning and incorporate 'WOW' events into all areas of the curriculum.

Our staff have worked together to consider the teaching methods that we know to be successful with our children,  we then reflected on what our curriculum offer would look like to a child in our school. We put our key curriculum words into a Wordle to show what we believe our curriculum should be.

We feel sure that our curriculum approach will create well-rounded, life long learners who are prepared for the challenges and adventures that await them.

Each unit of learning begins with the sharing of a learning journey. This outlines to the children what their half-termly journey in each subject will look like, allowing them to take ownership over their learning, generate questions and make links with their prior learning.
