PTA Message Board

PTA MISSION STATEMENT:

It is our aim to organise events that are fun, which reinforce community relations and provide sociable entertainment for children and parents alike. At the same time we aim to continue to raise much needed funds for the benefit of all the children at the school—now and in the future.

NOTES FROM THE PTA CHAIR, FOR: OCTOBER 2009

Hello there.  Welcome to the new school year!

As new Chair of the School’s PTA I have to say—at this time—it is a little daunting, if I must be honest. There’s more on the reasons for this is the following sections, but suffice to say I shall endeavour to meet the challenges ahead.

I will be updating these Notes on a monthly basis, and they will be displayed on the main notice board in Reception, as well as posted to the School’s website.

I hope that as we move through the coming year, we can all enjoy success for both children and the School.

I hope you will find the PTA Message Board useful for snippets of useful PTA information. If you do have any suggestions to improve the service then please, feel free to contact us via the School’s email address—details below.

Good luck to all for the year ahead.

BOUQUETS (a chance to say thank you):

To: DEBBIE MUMFORD

I mentioned above that the year ahead is a little daunting. One principal reason is following in the footsteps of Debbie, who—after 3 years at the helm—has stepped down as Chair. What Debbie has achieved—in terms of monetary success for the School, and her unflappable and ever-smiling determination to succeed– is a very hard act to follow. We wish all the best for Debbie—who will continue to support the PTA—in the future. If I can do half as well, I’ll be a very happy person indeed.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

THERMO-PLASTIC LINE PAINTING

We are pleased to announce the handover of £1500.00 to the School to help fund the laying down of new thermo-plastic lines in the re-surfaced playground.

This is a culmination of all the hard work by the members and friends of the PTA—but ultimately of course, because of the generosity of all those who attended the PTA events and so helped make last year’s efforts worthwhile through purchases and donations.

Well done to all.

TARGETS:

PROJECTION and SOUND SYSTEM

OK, next up then is to raise money towards a new projection and sound system for the school hall.

Quotes are currently being sought from local suppliers of this specialist equipment. At this stage therefore we are taking a pragmatic view that our new target should be to raise £2000.00 towards this equipment.

Let’s get behind all the events and activities this year and make this new target achievable.

CHALLENGES:

PTA MEMBERSHIP

Debbie has previously highlighted the issue on PTA membership. We have very few PTA members from the KS1 years, and we need these topped up to replace those KS2 members as they “retire” from active service in the years to come.

So– after fundraising itself this coming year—this is our biggest challenge we face. Thoughts on how to recruit in the future are being reviewed now. BUT PLEASE, don’t be shy—if you have a mind to help out—even if it’s for a few short hours per year, it will help to secure the future of this PTA.

COMING EVENTS:

AUTUMN DISCO—Friday 13th NOVEMBER

Get your boogie boots on for this year’s Autumn Disco. As well as the Disco there’s also other stalls and entertainment to keep the children going. Usual times apply:

KS1—6pm to 7pm

KS2—7:15pm to 8:30pm

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR—Friday 4th DECEMBER, 6pm to 8:30pm

It’s a bit like the Summer Fete—only it’s nearer Winter and it’s indoors! There’ll be stalls to get those last minute Christmas pressies, and entertainment laid on too. More details nearer the time.

NEXT PTA MEETINGS, All Welcome:

TUESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER—Pre-Autumn Disco Committee Meeting

TUESDAY 24th NOVEMBER—Pre-Christmas Bazaar Committee Meeting
