Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

There are 22 hard working and inquisitive children in Year 3 who are taught by Mrs Gemmell and are lucky enough to be supported by Mrs Walker.

Learning Challenge

This half term, our learning challenge is ‘Why has Greece always been in the news?'

During this half term Year 3 will be doing P.E on a Friday afternoon. They will be doing dance and athletics, they will also be learning new playground games to play at breaktime. Could you please make sure kits are available each week. Please can I remind you that children should wear black shorts/joggers, pumps and a white t-shirt.

Children are enjoying collecting housepoints for regular reading. They should try to read as much as they can at home, this is monitored on a daily basis. It doesn't need to be for long but every little bit helps, so it would be great if you could continue to encourage this. Reading is such a valuable tool for improving their imagination, spelling and writing skills.

Year 3 are now familiar with how our graffiti books work, they need to continue to take them home each night and bring them back in each day. Every Monday they will receive a list of new spellings that they need to learn for the following Monday , they are then free to graffiti these words in whatever way they like using pens/pencils or crayons. Children will write their spelling score in their book each week so you can see how they are getting on.

As always please do not hesitate to pop in at any time, book an appointment via the office or email me to discuss any concerns or questions you might have.

Here's to a great half term!
