Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is taught by Miss Ciccotti (Class teacher) and Mrs Walker (Teaching Assistant). We are a fun and lively bunch; we particuarly love sports!
Our topic this term is Ancient Egypt and our big question is: ‘How can we rediscover the wonders of Ancient Egypt?’
Spelling tests will take place on a Monday and new spellings will be given out immediately afterwards.
Each child has a reading book and a reading record and it would be gratefully appreciated if you could take the time to listen to your child read at home. All children should be reading at least 4 times a week at home and it is important that this is signed off in reading records. Reading books, records and spelling books should be brought to school every day.
Class 5 are going to be going swimming every Wednesday afternoon this half of term, so it is important that children have their kit in school each week. As well as swimming the children will have the opportunity to perform 10 minutes of exercise each afternoon. They will need a pair of trainers in school at all times.
Homework will be set on Education City each week and will generally be linked to what we have been learning about in class. There will always be optional topic project homework available. Please ask if you would like to have a copy of this.
