Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is taught by Mrs Drinkwater (Class teacher) and Mrs Tomkins and Mrs Evans (Teaching Assistants). Our classroom is light, bright and airy to provide a relaxed and happy environment for learning.
Our Learning Challenge
Our Topic Big Question this Summer half term is: Are Anglo-Saxons really smashing?
Spelling tests will take place on a Friday. The list of words are clearly on show in the classroom all week and children are encouraged to write them out regularly to learn them.
All children are expected to read every day, recording the page and date in their reading journals. Any tricky words should be recorded too, so an adult can help them next time. As pupils read more, they will move around the Readopoly board displayed in the classroom, earning themselves Good Choice Points. It would be helpful if adults at home could also monitor and sign their books once a week. Thank you.
P.E. is on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. This term we will be playing cricket, rounders, tennis and athletics. Please ensure P.E. kits are in school and clearly labelled with your child's name.
